The automatic conversion of European Union trademarks and designs into national titles is confirmed. The filing date and expiry date of the EU trademark or design will be taken over. The conversion of the rights should take place on January 1^st, 2021. From this date, the rights will have to be renewed in both the European Union and the United Kingdom (if you wish to maintain the protection in this country). Be aware that it will also be possible to cancel your trademark or design right in the United Kingdom (opt-out procedure).

Trademark or design applications which have not been published at the end of the transition period will have to be converted. The filing date of the EU application and eventually the priority date will be taken in the new application. Details for this procedure have not been confirmed yet.To ease the procedure and avoid unexpected costs, we recommend that you designate the UK in addition to the EU.
